STx getting started guide (for Silicon and Embedded software manufacturers)

Q1:You have a reference or “FADS” type board/box and would like STx to provide you a proposal on manufacturing and supporting it.

A1: STx will need to process the following documents in order
  1. NDA/CDA execution- STx can supply a mutual NDA or use yours
  2. Quote Process- we will need a complete quote package
    a. BOM (Bill of Material with AVL {approved vendor list})
    b. Gerber (assembly drawing, stencil, reference designators, photoplots)
    c. Mechanical information (Cable and wire schematics, solid models, case outlines, autocad)
    d. Packaging- what/how should the box, board, invoice, other documents say or be labeled
    e. Agency approvals required: to understand the time and cost for each (such as FCC part A/B, EN500xx, CE, UL/CSA, TUV)
    f. Testing parameters- to agree on how quality and assurance should be handled for both pre and post sales support as well as for manufacturing.
  3. Support and Service contract describing each parties responsibilities and duties (particularly for STx)
  4. CRM (customer relationship management) and customer database- in order to agree upon how STx
should maintain and track OEM customer data on behalf of the semiconductor/embedded software
  partner
  5. Support log and feedback reporting to provide an audit capability of STx responsiveness for the
  semiconductor/embedded software partner
  6. Bug reporting/fix procedures on the partner’s silicon or software product
  7. Market feedback for the semiconductor/embedded software partner as to what alternative
vendors/features that the customers are interested in and why
  8. Lead-time and logistical mechanics to agree upon:
    a. How much inventory STx is to carry
    b. How STx will handle OEM A/R credit, shipping, RMAs, et al
    c. Disposition of obsolete, out of current revision or excess material from 3rd party or the partner
    d. Payment terms for any product or service sold to the partner, not a 3rd party OEM
    e. Maintenance of quality standards needed by the partner of Stx
  9. Termination, contract period, agreement and notice parameters

10. Periodic Review to agree to meet regularly to review and improve the program and continue to strive to gain new customers for both STx and its partner.

Q2: You have an inadequate reference board and would like STx to design one for you.

A2: In order to provide you an accurate estimate of the work, we will ask for a small purchase order for consultative research to develop the scope of the project. After you have purchased our thoughts, if you choose to proceed, you now have a very good idea of what you will get, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. Once the project is completed, you will own any and all intellectual property from the project and can proceed into the STx standard service and support model as described above.

Q3:You would like STx to build a short run public demo product ASAP?

A4: We would be glad to- just to manage your expectations, expedited materials cost quite a bit more, especially the industrial modeling components.

Q5: You are an existing STx partner and would like help on a small integration or firmware problem

A5: No worries, just call your STx executive representative and let us know what you need- we will work on a time and materials basis and elevate your requirement to highest priority.

Q6: You have a strategic OEM customer with a small assembly job and need to refer it to a trusted partner

A6: That is what our business model is all about!
